I haven’t, no! But I have done a lot of snorkelling, in Cuba, Thailand, and in Australia (Ningaloo Reef on the west coast and the Great Barrier Reef on the east coast). I would love to go deeper, in a scientific submersible, to study the “black smokers” that occur in the middle of the Atlantic- they form as tectonic plates are pulled apart and hot magma reaches the seabed- the magma cools very quickly to form rounded shapes called “pillow lavas”, and the heat, gases and minerals released can lead to the creation of very tall black columns that release gas bubbles- very odd creatures can survive on the gases created, with no daylight and no oxygen! https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=blac+smokers+you+tube&view=detail&mid=B4DEF73D09E8BD4A9CF8B4DEF73D09E8BD4A9CF8&FORM=VIRE
I have scuba dived when I went on holiday to Corfu a long time ago. It was a great experience and I loved seeing all the marine life that was just so different to what I expected… Things are never the size you expect. The colours were amazing and the water was a lovely clear blue. It was a great experience but we only got to do it for an hour.
But this is sadly not deep-sea diving; that would be astonishing! All we did was swim around the coast line and that was brilliant but imagine the world in the depths of the ocean… I almost want to try and find out if I can do that now!
