If you can, try to cycle or walk to school.

We can all play our part. Governments need to move towards a more balanced energy mix, with renewable energy like windfarms (clean but not 100% reliable), nuclear energy (clean but very expensive), and gas (stable and cheap supply)- these are all much cleaner than coal power stations, for example. We also need to invest in carbon-capture technology (where scientists put carbon dioxide store carbon deep in the ground rather than release it into the atmosphere). As individuals, we can choose to fly less, drive less, walk more… we can choose to have energy efficient cars. In an ideal world, we would all have solar panels and little windmills on our houses!

We are all required to play our part by making small changes to our way of lives…

As you probably know, the biggest cause of global warming is the release of greenhouse gases and there are lots of big causes. Industries and the burning of fossil fuels is one. Of course, one another is the use of fossil fuel burning vehicles… Planes are very bad.

The third cause is actually the farming of animals. Animal products (including meat, materials and dairy) are a huge cause of greenhouse gas release and is also one of the leading causes of deforestation (in the case of cattle farming).

So what can we do? We can all do our little personal bit… Try to use public transport, source local foods, cut down on the use of plastics… even go vegetarian!

The biggest thing we should be doing, however, is getting the global governments on side. They are the ones with the power to change the laws so that the damage that has already been done should go no further. We should at least try to stop the release of greenhouse gases through law and maybe one day we can reverse the changes we have made to the planet.
